Yanukovych Will Go to Moscow to Discuss Customs Union

The visit of President Viktor Yanukovych to Moscow is scheduled for December 17-18 but is yet to be announced.

Kommersant-Ukraine reports citing its sources in the Foreign Ministry.

One of the main issues on the agenda will be the possibility of Ukraine's participation in the Eastern integration process, says a source.

Experts believe that the chances of Ukraine's rapprochement with the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan under the conditions of in a huge budget deficit and the uncertainty of European prospects are becoming more real.

"Change of vector is no longer blackmailing Europe but is a very real possibility. We already heard something from Ashgabat and we will hear the news from Moscow on December 17-18," says the scientific director of the Institute of Euro-Atlantic integration Oleksandr Sushko.

As it was reported earlier, in Ashgabat Yanukovych stated the need to "accede to certain provisions of the Customs Union, to the rules that exist in it."
