According to Censor.NET, he mentioned it in all-Ukrainian conference on children's rights.
"According to the results of social research, 47% of children have a positive attitude towards the police while the rest have neutral. This indicates an increase of children's trust to law enforcement authorities," said Zakharchenko.
He noted that in order to reduce the number of crimes among children the police uses a comprehensive approach that includes prevention, providing legal and psychological assistance to children.
However, the minister noted that the Interior Ministry is concerned with widespread use of alcohol, drugs and tobacco among children and youth. "The number of school children and university students who use drugs is still high," said Zakharchenko.
According to the minister, law enforcement officers conduct preventive educational work among children, and identify and prosecute adults who involve children in illegal activities.
