In an interview to Comments head of the National Bank Serhii Arbuzov stated:
"We will be explaining to the population on facts and examples that keeping currency under the mattress is not profitable from any point of view. Hryvnia deposits, treasuries, invest coins, investment in housing construction will in any case be more beneficial for people and the country. We are preparing an information campaign which will cover all regions of the country," he said.
At that Arbuzov expressed confidence that the law providing for the introduction of the pension commission of 15% on sales of foreign currency to be passed by the parliament in the nearest future.
"The NBU is still actively fighting with those trying to make money on artificially rocking the hryvnia's exchange rate. To put an end to this a bill "On Amendments regarding foreign currency transactions" was prepared. It provides for the introduction of a 15% commission for the compulsory state pension insurance for sale of foreign currency for cash hryvnia. The need to introduce such a rule is obvious (...) We hope that the parliament will soon pass this bill," said the head of the National Bank.
