Lutsenko Believes Opposition Has Real Chance to Free Tymoshenko

"The total result of the United opposition consists of Batkivschyna and Front Zmin (Yatsenyuk’s party)- that is, 25% for two."

In an interview to LB.ua former Interior Minister explained: "Yatsenyuk was at my court hearing. I told him: "The total result of the United opposition consists of Batkivschyna and Front Zmin - that is, 25% for two. You understand that from the point of view of the presidential race you have no advantage over other potential opposition candidates? Each of the three opposition leaders has a comparable starter result of 12-13%."

According to the former Minister, Yatseniuk agreed with his arguments. "I think he, Klitschko and Tyagnybok by logic, by intuition, understand that it is not the words that define their political future but the deeds," said Lutsenko.

They are trying to become true leaders. Moreover, they are succeeding... After the elections, I had the impression that Yatsenyuk and Klitschko and Tyagnybok see the goal and are going for it. God willing, it will become a serious strategy, and not so much as the thought that came to the mind and left. It depends solely on them who they will be in the parliament - despicable, worthless minority or a minority that imposes its will. They have such a chance," said Lutsenko.

However, Lutsenko mentioned the need for negotiations between the parliamentary majority and the opposition.

"When the existence of the statehood is threatened it requires a round table between the parliamentary majority and the opposition. I am not talking about how real this is but that it is necessary. How to hold these talks in the Rada? First - released one of the leaders, in fact, the main opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko from prison. To talk to her at round the table and not through the bars. If such a decision is not made it is necessary to achieve its adoption, and it is my question to Yatsenyuk. Having these many 'bayonets' in the parliament it is real," concluded Lutsenko.
