 New York Commemorated Holodomor Victims. PHOTO

On Saturday a march in memory of the 80th anniversary of the Holodomor (Great Famine) of 1932-33 took place in Manhattan.

According to VIDIA media portal, the march started in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of St. George and ended in St. Patrick's Cathedral, where a solemn liturgy was held.

According to the participants of the march, the memorable event was attended by a large number of people, including many youngsters. The Marsh stretched for more than 5 blocks in New York.

At the invitation of the organizers the memory of Holodomor victims was also honored by representatives of the UN and U.S., Ukrainian officials, including Ambassador to the U.S. Oleksandr Motsyk.

According to the organizers, the march was held ​​in order to spread the information about Holodomor in American society.

A monument to the innocent victims of the Holodomor is planned to be erected in the US capital.
