Ukraine to Reduce Purchase of Russian Gas

Ukraine plans to reduce the amount of natural gas purchased from the Russian gas monopoly to 20 billion cubic meters in 2013, Naftogaz deputy chairman Vadim Chuprun stated.

Interfax-Ukraine cites the official: "This year we will buy 27.5 billion cubic meters from Russia. In 2013 we first planned to buy 24 billion and now we see the number at about 20 billion," said the official.

However Chuprun did not specify how much gas is specified in the order which Ukraine has sent the Russian Federation for the next year. "Orders have been sent. This is a negotiation process so I will not risk revealing the details of our order," said the deputy chairman of Naftogaz.
