U.S. Secretary ofState Hillary Clinton has expressed her support for Ukraine'simprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, reads astatement posted on the Web site of the Batkivschyna Party onSaturday.
The statementnotes that U.S. Ambassador-at-Large Melanne Verveer announced thisat a meeting with the ex-premier's daughter Yevhenia Tymoshenko andDeputy Head of the Batkivschyna Party HryhoriyNemyria.
"We will not stopuntil Tymoshenko and other political prisoners in Ukraine arefreed," the party's press service quoted the ambassador assaying.
Verveer expressedClinton's support for the ex-premier and said that the U.S.secretary of state "expressed hope that in the near future she willbe able to personally meet with Tymoshenko," and expressed herconcern about the ex-premier's health.
The ambassadoralso said that the United States shared a negative assessment byOSCE international observers of the parliamentary elections inUkraine.
