CEC Will Urgently Restore Order in Problem Districts: Continued Inaction is a Crime

The Central Election Commission suspended the meeting dedicated to receiving reports of the district commission to discuss measures to restore order in establishing the election results in a number of districts.

The initiative for suspension was made by deputy chairman of the CEC Zhanna Usenko-Chornaya, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

"The count in several districts is conducted with the use of Berkut batons and tear gas. According to her, this situation occurs in districts number 94, 132, 223.

"There are quite primitive methods of distortion and falsification of the will of the citizens, and if the CEC will now be silent instrument of distorting results then its mission will be reduced to nothing," - she said.

"Continued inaction in response to a situation like this would be a crime," added Usenko-Chornaya.

The decision was supported by the CEC members appointed by the opposition quota. However, several other members were in favor of continuing the meeting.

In particular, the CEC member Chupakhin stated that it was necessary to justify such a demand with hard evidence.

Presiding deputy chairman of the CEC Magera did not put the matter to a vote, but suspended the meeting for 25 minutes by personal decision.

The CEC was also heard the head of the opposition council Yatsenyuk, who said that in some districts there is "not just a fight but there is a use of serious force, tear gas."

"Subdivisions" Berkut "destroy ballots and protocols," - he said.

According to him, such a situation is observed in the districts number 11, 14, 20, 93, 94, 99, 130, 132, 194, 197, 211, 215, 216, 223.
