 UN Report: Ukraine Leads Among Dying Cities of the World

According to the latest UN report on the city condition in 2012-2013, Dnipropetrovsk is acknowledged as the city with the most rapidly declining population.

Comments report that according to forecasts Dnipropetrovsk population will decrease by 16,78% in 35 years - from 1,162,000 residents to 967,000 in 2025.

Amog the leaders are other Ukrainian cities - Donetsk, Zaporizhya, Kharkov, and Odessa.

Other cities include Nizhniy Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Budapest, Monrovia (Liberia), Pusan (South Korea), Turin, Bucharest, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Havana, Milan, and Rome.

The report considered economic factors as well as non-materal aspects of city life. The document provides population growth data since 1990 to 2025 for 600 cities with population over 750,000 people. The ratings of 28 fastest dying cities was compiled by BusinessInsider.

Dnipropetrovsk ceased to be a millionaire city last year. According to statistics it had 999,300 people living there at the time.
