 Yanukovych Could Not Negotiate Cheap Gas with Putin

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych stated that Kyiv continues negotiations with Moscow regarding economically reasonable gas prices.

"Negotiations regarding the gas matter continue and we hope to achieve economically reasonable form of setting gas prices for our country," said Yanukovych after talking to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

In his turn Minister for Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Boyko confirmed that the gas matter has been discussed during the negotiations. "The parties agreed that we need to continue the dialogue in this regard," said the minister.

Boyko did not provide any details, however he informed that a decision on renewing the gas negotiations will be made soon. He also stated that the matter of Ukraine's undertake of gas was not discussed at the meeting.
