According to the Ukrainian Pravda, he stated this when talking to members of the Honestly (Chesno) movement that brought the dossiers on violator candidates in the Party of Regions' election list.
"The Law on Defamation will certainly be passed, but with amendments to the punishment part making them less severe," stated Sukhyi.
"I don't need to tell you how much the political 'gore' or 'porn' costs. The law is necessary so you wouldn't write different crap," he said.
He mentioned the TVi channel as an example: "all they do is show dirt regarding the authorities".
Replying to the journalists' statements that the Council of Europe is against the introduction of criminal responsibility for defamation, Sukhyi said: "Let the Council of Europe deal with Czech Republic or the United Kingdom where they have such provision instead of teaching us how to live."
According to the Honestly movement's rules the political parties have 3 days to consider and react to the dossiers.
