Putin Set an Ultimatum: Either Ukraine Joins the Customs Union or Trading Relations will Chill

During a personal conversation of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the latter set an ultimatum: if Kiev does not agree to join the Customs Union within a 2-month period, it shall expect a chilling of the trading conditions.

According to the sources of ZN.UA, "during the last personal conversation there was an ultimatum: if Kiev does not agree to join the Customs Union within a 2-month period, it shall expect a chilling of the trading conditions that will make all the restrictions and problems Ukraine has right now seem like nothing".

Previously, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov stated that Ukraine is very careful in regard to the Customs Union. President Yanukovych advocates joining the Union in 'three plus one' format with Russia being against it.

The trade between Ukraine and Russia constituted 32.34 billion dollars in the first half of 2012.
