According to Kiev oblast MVD press service, "social activists have made a theatrical action in Brovary, Kiev oblast near the Brovary Interdistrict court where they enacted the hanging of the judge who found Vitaliy Zaporozhets guilty of murdering major Mykola Simonenko of the local police department".
"The policemen did not interfere with the protest while the activists were shouting slogans. When the theatrical hanging of the judge's effigy started, the policemen asked the protesters to stop the actions that advocate cruelty and violence. The activists continuing their performance started to push away the police officers and resisted them", states the police.
"As a result, five policemen received injuries in the form of bruises and grazes. Six people were detained and taken to Brovary city police station. Two of them will be charged with disorderly conduct and four with defiance of police officers", reads the statement.
"All detainees were offered to take a medical examination which they refused. After identifying of the detainees and filling out the corresponding paper work, they will be examined by doctors and released", concludes the press service.
In its turn, the 'Svoboda' Party released a statement saying that Brovary police has brutally beat up the activists who supported convicted Zaporozhets. "The police beat up the action participants without any justification or announcement regarding the illegality of the event or the actions of the activists", says the statement.
