According to ZN.UA, the polls jointly conducted by Razumkov Center and Democratic Initiative Fund show that the number of independence supporters grew from 86% in 2010 to 93% in 2012 in the west and from 54% to 77% in the center. The support of independence grows since the antagonism towards the authorities grows. The western resources in this regard are almost depleted but the Center has shown itself, notes the observer.
In the east the picture is completely different - a surge of independence support occurred in August 2011 (57%) and later dropped to regular level of less than half of the population (presently 49%). Meanwhile, the number of independence opponents also decreased - right now it constitutes 23% compared to 34% in 2010.
At the same time, in 2010 after Yanukovych's victory the support of independence hiked: 65% and only 15% of the opponents (August, 2010). However, a year later the supporters of independence settled somewhere in the vicinity of one-third (34% in 2011 and 36% now) whereas the opposition is steadily over 40%.
