The experts reconstructed footage of the events that took place on Kyiv's Maidan Nezalezhnosti between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Feb. 20, 2014 second-by-second and frame-by-frame. The moment of murder of Melnychuk (Volodymyr Melnychuk, 39, shot dead by a sniper on Instytutska Street Feb. 20, 2014 - Ed.) who was killed at 5 p.m., was also added to the movie.
The reconstruction consists of three parts with the second one covering period between 08:53 a.m. and 11 a.m.
45 out of 48 unarmed protesters and two police officers were killed on Maidan during this period. The first and third parts will also be published soon.
The screen is divided into 16 separate areas showing synchronized footage. The statements delivered from the stage have also been typewritten. The timing is based on the one shown by a camera installed on the National Bank of Ukraine building. This section shows synchronized footage of four surveillance cameras, and a large number of videos and images captured on camera by about 100 authors. Jus Talionis employees noted that the timing error in each camera and camcorder was also identified.
This project provides opportunity to track each person captured on camera at least once and see what was going on in every part of Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Instytutska Street at the same time. But the most important thing is that this project gives everyone a possibility to draw own conclusions about the events and who actually was pulling the trigger.
The authors of the video pointed out that the reconstruction showed only 80 protesters who received gunshot wounds although it is believed that there were more of them.
