The president underscored the deterioration of the security situation in the Donbas and blatant violation of human rights in temporarily occupied Crimea. He once again thanked the Swedish government for its immutable stance on the necessity of preserving sanctions against Russia until complete restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In the lead-up to the European Council session scheduled for Dec. 15-16, Poroshenko and Wallstrom coordinated positions on the introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, completion of ratification of the association agreement and maintenance of sanctions against Russia. The foreign minister emphasized the sanctions must continue.
