The incident occurred in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv. The police received a message about a suspicious man with a large backpack.
When law enforcers approached him, he dropped the backpack and started running away through the courtyards of apartment buildings toward Malyshka Street. There the man jumped into a route minibus, pointed the gun at the driver and ordered that they get going.
As the bus pulled out, the man shot through the windshield at patrol officers who tried to block the path. At this point, the driver and passengers managed to leave the vehicle.
The attacker got behind the wheel and drove off. He continued shooting at the patrol officers as he was fleeing.
The police used firearms to stop the vehicle.
A few moments later, the attacker ran into a passenger car but kept going. Shortly after, he pulled over in the area of inner suburbs, left the vehicle and began to run away. At a city train station, the malefactor wounded a police officer in the leg as he tried to catch him.
The criminal is reported to be hiding in the inner suburbs. The police are taking all measures to track him down.
