 Russian troops shelled Ukrainian positions 49 times yesterday, used mortars, grenade launchers, IFV weapon, - ATO HQ

The situation in the east of Ukraine, where government troops conduct the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) against separatists, remained tense but stable over the past 24-hour period.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the ATO HQ press center on Facebook.

"Russian terrorist troops opened fire 49 times upon positions of Ukraine's Armed Forces along the entire demarcation line," the report reads.

The HQ said Russian forces attacked Ukraine's defenses in Prymorske direction 20 times. After 6 p.m. yesterday, the enemy shelled a strongpoint of ATO troops there using mortars of both calibers. Ukrainian positions at Shyrokyne, Hnutove, and Novotroitske came under regular small arms fire, at Pavlopil - under grenade launcher and large caliber machine guns fire, at Talakivka - under IFV weapon fire.

In Donetsk direction, pro-Russian gangs were the most active in Avdiivka area. After the dusk they were impacting Ukrainian defenders using 120 mm and 82 mm mortars and lighter weapons. Luhanske came under 82 mm mortar, grenade launcher, and small arms fire. Large caliber machine guns and small arms were used against Ukrainian defenders in Novhorodske.

The HQ reported nine attacks by Russian militants in Luhansk direction over the past 24-hour period. In the evening, Ukrainian soldiers at Troitske came under 82 mm mortar fire. A strongpoint of ATO forces in Stanytsia Luhanska was impacted from large-caliber mortar. The same weapons and grenade launchers were employed in Valuiske area.
