Ukraine bars entry to Russia Today correspondent

Border guards denied entry to Ukraine to photojournalist of Russia's propaganda news agency Rossiya Segodnya (Russia Today) Ramil Sitdikov who was going to Kyiv to cover the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

Censor.NET reports citing ZN.ua.

Aleksandr Shtol, director of Rossiya Segodnya's photo information division, said Ukrainian border officers had denied Sitdikov entry to Ukraine, citing a failure to prove the reason for his visit.

Shtol went on to say Sitdikov's accreditation had been provided to him "in full compliance with all applicable procedures" while the correspondent was carrying its print-out copy. However the border guards demanded that he present an official invitation letter issued by the organizing committee.

According to the Myrotvorets (Peacemaker) website, Ramil Sitdikov has repeatedly violated the Ukrainian border crossing rules during visits to occupied Crimea.
