 Ukrzaliznytsia to raise railroad fare by 20-25 percent from June 1

Ukraine’s railroad operator Ukrzaliznytsia plans to receive additional 7 billion hryvnia (over $262 million) in revenues due to scheduled tariffs increase.

Ukrzaliznytsia Board Member Ireneusz Wasilewski said during the Infrastructure Forum, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

The official said that the railroad operator expected to receive an additional 7 billion hryvnia in revenues due to the railroad rate increase which according to the financial estimates of the enterprise was due to become effective on June 1.

"It is critical for us that a new financial plan is adopted. It already stipulates railroad fare increase starting from June. We want it to be about 20-25 percent," Wasilewski said.

The revised financial plan will be considered by the members of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia next week. He also noted that the increase in railroad fare since June 1 would generate additional 7 billion hryvnia.
