Black Sea shipwreck: bodies of two sailors recovered as search and rescue continues

Russian invaders in Crimea have retrieved the bodies of two dead sailors from the sea near the Kerch Strait, while another crew member was rescued earlier. The search for remaining nine sailors of the sunken Heroi Arsenala dry cargo ship is underway.

Censor.NET reports citing LigaBusinessInform referring to the so-called Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in Crimea.

"Two members of the crew were found and taken to Spasatel Demidov rescue vessel without signs of life, their identity being established," the message says.

The occupying authorities say the previously rescued crew member is a 35-year-old citizen of Ukraine. The search for nine more sailors continues.

As reported, the occupiers are trying to prevent the contamination of the water area around the wreck site with fuel and lubricants: the sunken ship is said to have been filled with 19 tons of diesel fuel and carried more than 1.5 tons of engine oil.

Meanwhile, Russian media report a body of yet another sailor has been discovered.
