 Heavy artillery, mortars, tank and Grads: Russian militants attacked Ukrainian positions 88 times yesterday, Ukraine troops retaliated, - Staff

Over the past 24-hour period Russian militants opened fire upon Ukrainian positions in the anti-terrorist operation area (ATO) 88 times.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the ATO Staff's press service on its Facebook page.

"The situation in the ATO area is aggravating. Over the past 24-hour period Russian terrorist troops attacked the positions of the Ukraine's Armed Forces 88 times," the report says.

The largest number of attacks was recorded in Mariupol direction. Shyrokyne and Vodiane were the hotspots of the confrontation. Defenders of the area came under artillery fire of 122 mm caliber, 120 mm mortar fire, grenade launchers of various systems, and large caliber machine guns fire. In Shyrokyne, Ukrainian marines were assaulted by a tank and sniper fire. Mortars of 120 mm caliber were employed against Ukrainian military in the area of Hnutove, Pavlopil, Lebedynske, and Talakivka. An IFV weapon fired upon Novotroitske. At Krasnohorivka and Marinka Russian militants employed grenade launchers and large caliber machine guns.

"It was hot yesterday in Donetsk direction as well, where Ukrainian military were attacked by pretty much entire arsenal of heavy armament of the enemy. In Troitske area, Russian occupation troops employed 152 mm artillery systems, 120 mm and 82 mm mortars. Avdiivka and Luhanske came under 120 mm mortar fire. 82 mm mortars shelled Ukrainian positions at Kamianka, Verkhniotoretske, and Avdiivka. A tank was operating upon Kamianka, and an IFV weapon fired in Verkhniotoretske and Pisky area. Enemy snipers got active at Troitske," the report says.

In the Luhansk region, Russian militants employed grenade launchers upon Novooleksandrivka, Yekaterynivka, and Krymske. Residential areas of Avdiivka came under Grad-P MLRS fire yesterday.

"In order to suppress fire activity of the enemy, our units were opening fire in retaliation," the ATO press center said.
