Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine quoting President Petro Poroshenko.
"The National Security and Defense Council will shortly consider a plan to reform the Security Service of Ukraine, taking into account the best practices of NATO member countries," he said.
According to the president, certain functions of the SBU that are unusual for conventional special services will be gradually transferred to other law enforcement agencies. In particular, the investigation of certain official crimes and crimes committed by criminal organizations will be taken over by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the State Investigation Bureau and the National Police.
Poroshenko also stressed that the SBU will remain Ukraine's main counterintelligence agency.
