Health reform to face delay unless crucial bill passed in Rada, - acting Minister Suprun

Healthcare reform will not start on time if the parliament fails to pass the key law on state financial guarantees for the provision of medical services and medicines before May 16, 2017.

Censor.NET reports quoting acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun's Ukrainska Pravda blog.

"The major healthcare reform project has technical deadlines... If we all decide that the bill is sound but fail to pass it before May 16, the next opportunity for the implementation of the healthcare reform will surface somewhere in 2021-2022," she said.

Suprun explained that the bill must be adopted at the current session of the Verkhovna Rada so that the reform starts from July 1.

"Revisions to the budget make it possible to increase salaries for the doctors as early as July, and even higher than we initially expected. In a year, by July 1, 2018, we'll have enough data to calculate a guaranteed public package until Sept. 15, 2018 and draw up a real budget for 2019," Suprun said.
