Canada's aid to Ukraine powerful signal for Russia, - Defense Minister Sajjan

Canada will continue to support Ukraine in resisting Russia's aggression.

Canada's Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan said speaking in the Parliament of Canada, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

According to the minister, the Canadian government is standing side by side with Ukraine while its military strategists are in touch with the allies from Britain and the U.S. for ensuring the most effective assistance.

He noted that operation UNIFIER is by no means the only Canadian effort to help Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia. Canada is considering a broader approach to aid, including operation REASSURANCE, the Canadian units in Latvia, air patrols and so on.

All this sends a very powerful signal to Russia, the Canadian defense minister stressed.

Starting from 2015, some 200 Canadian military instructors have trained Ukrainian soldiers at the Yavoriv and Kamianets-Podilskyi grounds as part of a military training mission known as operation UNIFIER. This month, the Canadian government announced its decision to extend the mandate of the mission until March 31, 2019.
