 US reassured Ukraine FM Klimkin of maintaining sanctions against Russia until Crimea return, Minsk implementation, - Foreign Ministry

Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa says Minister Pavlo Klimkin during his visit to the U.S. received unequivocal assurances that sanctions against Russia would stay in place until the return of occupied Crimea and complete implementation of the agreements reached in Minsk.

She told a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"The position of our partners is absolutely clear and consistent: the sanctions will stay in place until Crimea is de-occupied and until the Minsk agreements on the Donbas are fulfilled," she said.

"This was also confirmed during Klimkin's recent visit to the U.S. where he received unequivocal guarantee and assurances from the American side that Crimea and the Donbas issues were not negotiable while the sanctions would be maintained," Betsa said.
