 Three people detained in Zaporizhkoks blast case, - prosecutor's office

A criminal proceeding has been launched on the fact of the March 16 explosion at Zaporizhkoks (Zaporizhia coke) plant.

Censor.NET reports citing the Zaporizhia region prosecutor's office press service.

As reported, the workers of Prom-Intehra LLC, a contractor company, were carrying out routine repairs and maintenance of the equipment inside the Zaporizhkoks coke purification facility.

"At about 3 p.m., during the welding works, a water collector with refrigerated coke gas exploded killing four workers of the contractor company," the statement says.

According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred due to the violation of hot works regulations.

The police have started a criminal proceeding under part 2, article 272 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of safety rules during the execution of highly dangerous works, leading to death).

Three people have been detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine: two heads of plant's structural divisions and an employee of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhia region.
