OSCE Envoy Sajdik disappointed by ‘dangerous developments’ in Donbas

The latest developments in the Donbas exacerbate tensions between the parties to the armed conflict in Ukraine’s east.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrainski Novyny, this was said by Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office at the Trilateral Contact Group Martin Sajdik following peace talks held in Minsk, Belarus.

Sajdik said he wanted to express personal disappointment and concern over the situation that does not contribute to the success of the Minsk process but, rather, exacerbates tensions between the parties and has an adverse effect on the process of mutual rapprochement and cooperation. These dangerous developments should be stopped. He said he hoped it would be possible to find ways and methods to correct the situation.

Earlier, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) decided to suspend transportation of goods across the demarcation line in the war-torn Donbas on March 15. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the only exception should be humanitarian aid provided by Ukrainian and international humanitarian organizations.
