 Russia will not inform NATO on military exercise plans, - Russia's Foreign Ministry

Russia is not yet ready to brief NATO on the upcoming military drills.

Director of the Department of European Cooperation of Russia's Foreign Ministry Andrey Kelin said on Monday in an interview with Interfax, Censor.NET reports.

"So far, we have not advanced that much in restoring our relations so as to take such steps as advising on these situations beforehand," Kelin said, commenting on the words of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who expressed hope on Monday that Russia will Inform the alliance at the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council (RNC) about the forthcoming Zapad-2017 exercise in September.

"We need to start work this year on convening new NRC (NATO-Russia Council - ed.) meetings. I think that a new meeting of the council will be convened in the near future," the diplomat stressed.
