1.78 million hryvnia ($65,925) of aid have been paid to the families of miners who died and were injured in the explosion at Stepova Mine in the Lviv region, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of Lviv Regional State Administration.
According to the report, the aid was paid yesterday, March 10.
"Eight families of the dead miners received UAH 100,000 each; nine seriously wounded miners were paid UAH 60,000 each; eight miners with moderate injuries received UAH 40,000 each, and six easily wounded were paid UAH 20,000 hryvnia," the statement reads.
The total sum of the assistance amounted to 1.78 million hryvnia. These funds were allocated from the regional budget at the session of the Lviv regional council on March 7.
On March 2, at 12:46 p.m., in Hlukhiv village of the Lviv region, a blast rocked Stepova Mine No. 10 of Lvivvuhillia SE at 550 meters, killing eight people. 172 miners were down in the mine at that moment, including 34 within the explosion area.
