Ukrainian prosecutors offer to question Yanukovych in Mezhyhiria, beside ostriches

Ukrainian prosecutors will not go to Russia for questioning ex-President Viktor Yanukovych at the invitation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

Censor.NET reports citing military prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko.

"We have no right to interrogate [Yanukovych] in the territory of Russia. We can only stand by. If I come there, then what? Russia is the aggressor country, Yanukovych is a suspect. As a prosecutor, I have to detain him and take to court for a preventive measure to be chosen!" Kravchenko said.

Ruslan Kravchenko has also addressed Viktor Yanukovych with an offer.

"We have a proposal for suspect Yanukovych better than that of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia. We'll question him, provide around-the-clock security, give him as much time as necessary, but we'll do it in the territory of Ukraine, to be more precise, in Mezhyhiria [Yanukovych's former residence], beside ostriches that miss him a lot! Enough of him hiding, it's time to face justice for unlawful actions committed against Ukraine and the people of Ukraine!" the prosecutor said.

As previously reported, Russian prosecutors sent a letter to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, saying they can interrogate Viktor Yanukovych in Russia in the presence of Ukrainian investigators.
