Cabinet to allocate additional 15B for roads reconditioning, expects bringing them to proper condition in 5-6 years

Ukrainian government intends to spend 15 billion hryvnia (over $555 million) for reconditioning of roads above already budgeted 14 billion hryvnia.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman told a briefing during his working visit to Vinnytsia on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"Our number one task is to invest more to provide better quality in reconditioning of Ukrainian roads. We currently have 14 billion to cover the early stage of repairs. We are now making joint efforts with lawmakers, National Bank, and Finance Ministry to allocate additional resources in line with the adopted budget and obtain extra 15 billion to upgrade and construct roads," Hroisman said.

According to him, these funds will be sufficient to launch large-scale reconditioning of roads taking into account the fact that 95 percent of the country's roads are worn down.
