 SBU, Prosecutor’s Office investigate MP Honcharenko’s abduction

The members of the Security Service and Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine are investigating abduction of Petro Poroshenko Bloc (PPB) faction MP Oleksii Honcharenko.

As reported by Censor.NET, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office told Dumskaia news outlet that information about the offense has been entered into the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations.

The offense has been identified as illegal deprivation of freedom or abduction committed in a manner endangering the life and health of a victim with the use of firearms by a group of persons acting in collusion which is punished by part 2 of article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to Dumskaia, the police are not involved in search operation and investigation.

It is also reported that Chief of the Odesa Regional Directorate of the Security Service Serhii Batrakov and Regional Prosecutor's Office Head Oleh Zhuchenko are going to hold a press briefing in this regard within the next hour.

Earlier, PPB parliamentary faction member Oleksii Honcharenko was abducted by unknown assailants in Odesa. BPP faction Chairman Ihor Hryniv requested to create a situation room to carry out inquiry into Honcharenko's abduction.
