Several hundred people took part in the rally at the Lincoln Memorial in the heart of the U.S. capital which also attracted attention of many passers-by, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
The rally participants - representatives of Ukrainian diaspora in the U.S., employees of the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, priests, concerned Americans and other countries' nationals - observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the fallen heroes near the Trident, Ukraine's national symbol, lined with candles on the ground. Many participants were holding yellow and blue flags and ribbons, and scarlet flowers.
Delivering a speech to the gathering, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valerii Chalyi stressed that "the fight for Ukraine is still underway amidst the Russian aggression that continues as we speak." He thanked the U.S.-based Ukrainian NGOs for their unity and solidarity with Ukraine.
In turn, the representatives of Ukrainian NGOs - Ukraine-USA Foundation, United Help Ukraine, and Razom - stressed their willingness to continue actively supporting Ukrainians in their struggle against the Kremlin's aggression. The Ukrainian and American priests traditionally held a service in remembrance of those killed and prayed for Ukraine.
