As reported by Censor.NET citing The Associated Press, AP photographer Burhan Ozbilici has won the 2017 World Press Photo competition for the image of Russian ambassador's assassin, taken in December last year.
As reported, the Russian diplomat was shot dead by a gunman in Turkish Ankara's Contemporary Arts Gallery at the opening of exhibition called "Russia through Turks' eyes" on Dec. 19. The shooter called the act a revenge for Aleppo. The Russian Foreign Ministry described the incident as a terrorist attack.
