As reported by Censor.NET citing UNIAN, David McAllister, the newly appointed chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs and vice president of the European People's Party, said at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze.
The sides have agreed on the need for the European Parliament to remain actively involved in understanding of the situation in Ukraine.
The emphasis was made on the important role of the European Parliament in the process of granting Ukraine a visa-free regime with the EU and additional trade preferences, as well as keeping political support for Ukraine in fighting back Russian aggression.
McAllister assured Klympush-Tsyntsadze that the conflict in eastern Ukraine will remain the focus of attention of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
According to him, the European Parliament will consider the situation in Avdiivka during the next plenary week (Feb. 13-16).
The vice PM has invited the European official to visit Ukraine in the near future.
