On Wednesday, Feb. 1, Kyiv's Maidain Nezalezhnosti hosted a farewell ceremony for Ukrainian military killed in Avdiivka.

Bodies of seven soldiers were brought to Maidan on the morning of Feb. 1 so that their loved ones and Kyiv residents were able to say their last goodbyes. All of them were killed in Avdiivka fighting on Jan. 29-30.

The soldiers are fighters of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade: Captain Andrii Kyzylo (born in 1993), Junior Sergeant Volodymyr Balchenko (born Jan. 4, 1992), Soldier Dmytro Overchenko (born Jan. 24, 1989), and Sergeant Volodymyr Kryzhanskyi (born March 24, 1982); as well as fighters Yaroslav Pavliuk (born Oct. 24, 1980), Oleh Burets (born Sept. 29, 1990), and Vitalii Shamrai (born May 26, 1990).

The people who came to bid their last farewell to the fallen heroes met them on their knees. The ceremony was attended by Ukrainian military, activists, families and friends of the killed, and hundreds of Kyiv residents.
