 Prosecution requests to remand Uzhhorod Deputy Mayor Tsap without bail

The Prosecutor's Office of the Zakarpattia region requested the court to remand without bail First Deputy Mayor of Uzhhorod Ishtvan Tsap, suspected of accepting a bribe.

As reported by Censor.NET, the press service of the local prosecuting authority told Ukrainski Novyny.

"We request to place him in pre-trial custody without a right to post a bail," a spokeswoman for the agency said.

According to her, the law enforcement authorities of Hungary have not yet responded to the request of the prosecutor's office on Tsap's alleged Hungarian citizenship.

As reported, First Deputy Mayor of Uzhhorod Tsap is suspected of extorting 40,000 hryvnia (about $1,427) from a businessman for permission to make private a land plot. Jan. 30, the court adjourned hearing on pretrial restriction against Tsap for Jan. 31.
