NSDC considers state defense order for 2017

The National Security and Defense Council chaired by President Petro Poroshenko has considered the 2017 state defense order.

Censor.NET reports citing the presidential press service.

At the outset of the meeting, the head of state emphasized this year's defense order should be prepared taking into account all flaws of 2016.

"We must form the 2017 state defense order considering all drawbacks of 2016. First of all, I would like to emphasize that 81 percent of the state defense order is [financed from] the general fund of the state budget. We are firmly convinced that the funding of this 81 percent will be guaranteed," Poroshenko said.

"In financial equivalent, some 9 billion hryvnia ($322.438 million) are to be allocated from the general fund of the 2017 state budget. The funding must already start," the president added.

He said the state defense order will cover the period of at least three years.

"So that we can produce the most advanced products developed by the Ukrainian military and industrial complex and Ukrainian constructors having a good reputation both in the army and in the international market," Petro Poroshenko stressed.
