Ukraine’s energy and utilities regulator introduces changes to gas bills

The National energy and utilities regulatory commission of Ukraine (NEURCU) ruled to present information on gas consumption to customers not only in cubic meters, but also in energy units. This will allow comparing consumption of natural gas and other energy commodities.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, this was said by Director of the NEURCU Department regulating relations in oil and gas sector Tetiana Riabukha at a meeting of the Commission.

"It has been proposed that the natural gas market uses energy units in order to increase the efficiency of natural gas consumption and allow comparing consumption of natural gas and other energy commodities," Riabukha said.

The resolution provides for the consumers to receive the bills with the information on energy commodity consumption in energy units along with the volume of the consumed gas in cubic meters.

"The natural gas market transition to consumption accounting in energy units is not stipulated at this stage. A consumer will be able to compare consumption of gas with the other energy resources in the first place," the official said.
