 High Council of Justice member Hrechkovskyi, suspected of fraud, returns to work

Member of the High Council of Justice Pavlo Hrechkovskyi, who is suspected of fraud, has returned to his duties in the Council.

Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny correspondent from the Council meeting.

This is the first time Hrechkovskyi has participated in the Council meeting since September 2016. 14 other members of the High Council of Justice are present.

At its Jan. 12 meeting, the Council of Justice is to consider the ban of Superior Economic Court Judge Artur Yemelianov under a request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the meeting, Hrechkovskyi withdrew his candidacy from the discussion of the issue due to information spread by media about his allegedly friendly relations with Yemelianov. The High Court of Justice refused his withdrawal

The Pechersk district court of Kyiv rejected arrest of Hrechkovskyi on Sept. 22, 2016. He was released under 3.85 million hryvnia bail ($137,500).

PGO suspects Hrechkovskyi of extortion of a $500,000 bribe.
