Ukraine to see no early parliamentary elections in 2017, Speaker Parubii says

Early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are not going to be held in 2017.

According to the speaker, this scenario is being forced upon Ukraine by Russia but it will fall flat.

"There will be no early elections. I am strongly convinced that the scenario that is externally imposed upon Ukraine is not Ukrainian. This is a scenario of the aggressor, who is spending astounding amounts of money to destabilize the situation inside the country as it has got clobbered by the Ukrainian army in the east. The parliament is definitely the main battlefield where this attack is being carried out.

"We have seen similar scenarios in Moldova, when Russia tried to completely reorient the whole country using destabilization. The attempts are being made to force such a scenario upon Ukraine, but it will not be successful in this country," the Verkhovna Rada chairman expressed his conviction.
