 Yelchenko explained why Ukraine supported "anti-Israeli" resolution in UN

Ukraine voted in favor of the UN Security Council resolution demanding the halt in construction of Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory because they contravene international law.

It was announced by Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko, Censor.NET reports citing his Twitter.

"Israeli settlements on the occupied territories contravene international law, as well as Russian occupation of Crimea does," he wrote.

Earlier, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution condemning the construction of Israeli settlements in Palestine. Ukraine was among the countries that supported the document.

Following the voting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled the visit of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman to Israel.
