 Moldova’s Defense Minister to boycott president’s inauguration: "Dodon advocates Russia’s interests"

Minister of Defense of Moldova Anatol Șalaru has no intention to attend the inauguration ceremony of the President-Elect of Moldova Igor Dodon.

The defense minister wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"I received an invitation to the inauguration ceremony of President-Elect of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon. It's a pleasure to tell you that I will not take part in this event. Igor Dodon is not my president. I respect the institution of the presidency and the laws governing relationship between the president and defense minister. However, Igor Dodon won the race by rigging the campaign. Therefore, he is not my president and advocates interests of the Russian Federation," Șalaru wrote.

President-Elect of Moldova Igor Dodon said that one of his first decisions as head of state would be dismissal of Defense Minister Anatol Șalaru because he allegedly actively promoted Moldova's unification with Romania.

As reported, the inauguration of President-Elect of Moldova Igor Dodon will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, during a joint grand meeting of the country's parliament and Constitutional Court. The ceremony will take place at Chisinau's Palace of Republic.
