 Schultz to Poroshenko: European Parliament ready to complete necessary procedures for granting Ukraine visa liberalization

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone call with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz.

Poroshenko thanked Schulz for clear support of Ukraine during the European Council session held in Brussels on Dec. 15. The Ukrainian leader mentioned the unblocking of the ratification of the Ukraine-EU association deal, visa liberalization for Ukrainians and extension of sanctions against Russia in response to the continuous violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Martin Schulz said the European Parliament is ready to complete all relevant internal procedures in order to fulfill the EU's obligations concerning the provision of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.

He also emphasized the importance of the quickest completion of the ratification of the Association Agreement and expressed readiness to comprehensively foster that process.
