"Minsk process does not tackle problem, but freezes it," - former Chairman of Belarus Supreme Council Shushkevich

The Minsk agreements will not help resolve the conflict in the Donbas. On the contrary, they will only freeze it.

As reported by Censor.NET, the opinion was expressed by former leader of the Supreme Council of Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich in an interview with LІGA.net.

"The Minsk process does not tackle the problem but helps freezing it instead -- avoid numerous deaths while leaving the problem of encroachment on Ukraine's sovereignty unsolved," he said.

According to him, the conflict in the Donbas could be stopped.

"With Russia's goodwill, everything could be solved in just one day," Shushkevich said. "And without Russia's goodwill and as long as Ukraine offers resistance, there will be a lasting frozen conflict in the Donbas."

According to a poll by Razumkov Center think tank, only 9.2 percent of Ukrainians see the Minsk process as being successful.
