 Russian court arrests Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko for two months

The Lefortovo court of Moscow arrested Ukrainian citizen Roman Sushchenko for two months on Oct. 1.

"Sushchenko has been arrested for two months," press secretary of the court Yekaterina Krasnova told Interfax on Monday, Censor.NET reports.

Earlier, members of Moscow Public Monitoring Commission have found correspondent for Ukrinform news agency Roman Sushchenko in Lefortovo prison. The Lefortovo court of Moscow arrested the journalist on charges of espionage (article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Later, Ukraine's Information Policy Ministry confirmed the detention of Sushchenko. The ministry said its legal department was collecting necessary information on the circumstances and reasons for the detention.

In turn, the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) claims Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko is the agent of Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine: "The case was initiated into charges of espionage."
