U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said in an interview to the Ukrainian ZIK TV channel, Censor.NET reports citing Krym.Realii.
The diplomat stressed that the U.S. was not going to disregard the situation of the Crimean Tatars adding that Crimea became the area human rights catastrophe.
Payette said that this issue was constantly tackled by the U.S. in its dialogue with Russia. The ambassador reiterated that his country's clear policy was that the U.S. never recognized, and would never recognize the Russian annexation of Crimea.
Geoffrey Pyatt dramatized the importance of the Council of Europe's continued attention to this issue. The ambassador added that the U.S. used its presence at the UN Human Rights Commission to report on the crimes committed by Russia in the context of its occupation of Crimea.
