Kremlin commented on Poroshenko's statement on readiness to exchange Savchenko: "We took it into account..."

Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to the words of the Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko, who had officially announced the readiness of Kyiv to exchange Nadiia Savchenko.

"We have certainly taken into account yesterday's statement by the president of Ukraine. I am not ready to say more. I can add that we have also taken into account today's statement by Savchenko's lawyer, who said that the defendant stopped dry hunger strike. And we want to remind once again that litigation is underway," Peskov said, Censor.NET reports citing RBC.

The Ukrainian president voiced readiness to exchange Savchenko at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. "If the question is whether I am ready to take a decision on the exchange for someone, I would say yes for the first time. As the president of Ukraine, I'm ready to exercise my constitutional right and exchange Nadiia, do my best to bring her back home," Poroshenko said. He added that "no proposal to exchange Savchenko was ever received from any reliable source over nearly two years".

The mock trial of Savchenko is held in the Donetsk city court in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.
